You must be ready to deliver the following speech on Monday, March 20, 2017.
- Must be on a topic on something you like that you believe most people don’t like or don’t know about.
- It should be designed to be a persuasive speech, with the intent of changing someone’s mind about the topic.
- Your speech should be between 2 minutes 30 seconds and 3 minutes. For every 10 seconds you are over or under, I will deduct half a letter grade.
- For notes, you may only use one 3”x5”-sized card or piece of paper.
- For time, I will allow one look at the clock in the back without judging. After that, I reserve the right to deduct points. You may not look at a watch or any other timepiece you have.
- You may include visual aids, including but not limited to props and slide shows.
- Beyond what’s previously mentioned, your grade will be based on these topics:
- Are you prepared?
- Are you informed?
- Are you speaking to the crowd? Or are you reading?
- Overall “speech” quality.
- The first speeches will begin on March 22nd. Volunteers will go first, and then anyone left will be picked at random. If you are called at random, you MUST deliver your speech.
