Beginning this Friday, students will be selected at random to present a persuasive speech to the class. Please have your speech ready in case your are first selected.
Week of April 5, 2018
Beginning next week (Thursday), students will be selected at random to present an informational speech to the class. Please have your speech ready in case your are first selected. When grading the speech, Mr. Bunch will be looking for the following:
SPEECH STRUCTURE
Your speech should be no shorter than two minutes and no longer than three minutes.
Your speech should grab people's attention within the first 15 seconds.
Your speech should contain a "thesis statement," explaining its purpose.
Your speech should contain at least three pieces of major information, each supported with additional detail.
Your speech should contain information that is cited to reputable sources.
Your speech should be well-organized and easy to undestand.
Your speech should contain transitions between each point.
Your speech should be summarized before the conclusion of the time available.
SPEECH STYLE
Your speaking style should include eye-contact with audience members.
Your speaking style should use appropriate para-linguistice (volume, projection, rate of speech and tone).
Your speaking style should include appropriate body language.
Your speaking style should include appropriate articulation and pronunciation.
SPEECH PREPARATION
Your speech preparation should include NO MORE than one sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper.
